The perfect taste and texture: sweet and fluffy, soft and chewy
Ingredients
1/2 cup Crisco (unflavored)
1/2 cup butter (softened)
1 egg + 1 yolk
2 tsp vanilla
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup white sugar
2 tsp bkg soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 Tbsp chocolate pudding mix (optional)
2 1/4 cup flour
1+ cup chocolate chips
Instructions
1. Mix wet ingredients first and then add dry ingredients. (Less water in shortning than in butter so the cookie spreads less. Baking soda adds more rise.).
2. Spoon drop dough onto airbake cookie sheet (I cover the sheet with a silicon mat.) Airbake cookie sheets all more even air distribution for equal cooking.
3. Bake cookies at 325 for 12-13 minutes.
I made a lot of adjustments to find out which combination of butter/crisco, cold/room temp, sugar amounts, egg/vanilla amounts. So far, this has been the best combo, but I'm still open to adjustments (like corn starch)....
